Our Social Impact

As an organisation we are based on a model which champions the best of business and the best of charity.
OxFizz is committed to generating social good in three main ways:

1. We generate desperately needed funds for charities chosen by our volunteers.

2. We support students from non-traditional university background to help them to earn places at top universities.

3. We empower recent graduates and current students to develop new skills and engage with philanthropy in an impactful way.

1. We generate desperately needed funds for charities chosen by our volunteers.

OxFizz's main goal is to empower our volunteers to raise as much money as possible for good causes. At a time when charities are facing growing demand on their services and cuts to their funding OxFizz has been able to provide significant financial support to over 200 different charities with many charities now receiving annual donations from OxFizz.

Since 2007 we have donated over £600,000 to charities, with £160,000 being donated in 2015.

In 2015 volunteers raised £63.83 an hour for a charity of their choice, with our top volunteer raising over £3,800 and 42 volunteers raising over £1,000.

2. We support students from non-traditional university background to help them to earn places at top universities.

We work closely with educational networks and charities to support their students who are aspiring to study at top universities. We provide specialist advice and support to our access partners to help them to ensure their university support, particularly for students applying to top universities like Oxford and Cambridge, is as beneficial as possible. We work with our partners to design and deliver bespoke programmes which are designed with their students in mind.

We currently support students aspiring to study at top universities from across The Access Project, Villiers Park, The Sutton Trust, ARK Schools and Teach First.

Through these programmes our volunteers deliver high quality educational support free of charge to students who would not otherwise has access to this type of support and preparation.

3. We empower recent graduates and current students to develop new skills and engage with philanthropy in an impactful way.

Our third social impact goal is to empower current students and recent graduates to engage with philanthropy. We train and enable our 300 volunteers to utilise their skills to raise significant sums for charity and to improve access to top universities for students from non-traditional backgrounds.

Our volunteers are drawn to our model because it allows them to engage with philanthropy at a time when they feel unable to commit to regular volunteering. Over 70% of our volunteers say they were drawn to OxFizz because of its flexibility.

Additionally, our volunteers develop essential skills which help them to progress in their careers. Currently 92% of volunteers mention OxFizz on their CVs and 63% currently use skills they have learnt from OxFizz in their current job.
